The four skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) are taught through a natural transition from passive (listening and reading) to active (speaking and writing) language use. To achieve this, it is important that everything is presented in a realistic context with real materials to make language acquisition more effective. Below are examples of the skill objectives:
Listening:
- Students can follow and understand texts and short stories, for example, on CD, TV programs, and films in foreign languages.
- They understand simple questions from a native speaker and can answer them.
Reading:
- Students can read simple books, magazines, and stories.
- Students can answer questions about the text read in complete sentences.
Speaking:
- Students can manage themselves in everyday situations, such as ordering something in a restaurant, asking for directions, etc.
- Students can hold a simple conversation in the foreign language.
Writing:
- Students can write a letter and a short story in the target language (the foreign language).
- They can use this in a realistic context, such as writing letters to a pen friend or something about an everyday topic.
- Students can also provide answers to text questions in complete sentences.
