Arts and cultural education

The Europaschool establishes the connection between language, art, and internationalization in cultural education. In the language lessons, both the language and culture of the respective country are taught, often utilizing creative forms of expression such as drama, music, and visual arts. All students, classroom teachers, and language teachers collaborate in the annual country project, which focuses on a different culture each year.

The classroom teachers provide visual arts education and regularly make use of the digital method for visual education called Laat Maar Zien. Students receive extra visual arts education through projects that are selected in connection with the Da Vinci themes.

The music curriculum established by Mocca, from the Municipality of Amsterdam, has been implemented since 2013. All students receive one hour of music lessons every other week from a subject teacher from the Amsterdam Music School. The method Zingzo! is used for these lessons. The classroom teacher reviews the lesson in the intervening week.

In grade 8, students are introduced to the rich arts and culture offerings of Amsterdam through the Arts School Day. A wonderful conclusion to cultural education during primary school! Eve wrote a beautiful report about one of the editions.
